How to Search Cases by Name
For Clinton Circuit Court, Clinton Superior Court, and Frankfort City Court, the free public search is Indiana MyCase. Pick Clinton County for county trial cases. For the city court, pick Clinton County–Frankfort City. An individual name search needs a last name at minimum, and first or middle names will trim the list. Businesses go in their own field.
- Choose the party-name search and enter the last name.
- Add the first name only when it is known with confidence.
- Select the Clinton County court filter that fits the notice.
- Limit the case category, open or closed status, and filing dates.
- Compare results by cause number, court, filing date, style, and status.
- Open the likely case and read the newest CCS entries.
A sounds-like option helps when spelling is uncertain. It also broadens the results. MyCase caps any result set at 1,000, so a wide name search can hide the match you want. Note that the name fields cover public parties only, not every person named in a filing.
Clinton County MyCase Field Map
The public search accepts several keys. Keep them separate. Combining fields the portal treats as different modes leads nowhere. A citation number is not an Odyssey cause number, and a cross-reference may just be an older agency or court identifier.
| Field | Use | Local note |
|---|---|---|
| Case Number | Exact case lookup | Best key when known |
| Party Name | Person or business | Pair with Clinton court and dates |
| Citation Number | Ticket search | Format varies by issuer |
| Cross Reference | Older or agency key | Separate from cause number |
| Court | Venue filter | County or Frankfort City |
| Status and Dates | Narrow results | Open, closed, and filing range |
The assigned image below comes from the Indiana court-record request guidance.

One fallback rule governs all of it. A request for a local case record goes to the clerk where the case was heard.
How to Search by Case Number
An Indiana cause number tells you where the case lives. A Clinton County case number usually starts with county code 12. After that comes a court code, the filing year and month, a case type, and a sequence number. A redacted teaching format looks like 12C01-2026-CF-000000. In that code, C01 is Circuit, D01 is Superior, and H01 is Frankfort City Court.
Type the whole number as printed on your notice. MyCase search help says hyphens and leading zeroes can sometimes be dropped. Still, the exact form cuts down on errors. A transferred case may get a new number. So save the court and current cause number from the detail page. The code alone is not a legal conclusion. Read the case type, the filings, any charges, and the disposition. Do not guess from a prefix.
Clinton County Search Narrowing
A broad search creates noise. File-date and status filters will pull an active Clinton County case out of the crowd. MyCase sorts results into Criminal & Citation, Civil, Family, and Probate groups, twenty results per page. Sorting is available by file date, case number, case style, or status date. Be aware that repeated broad searches can trigger a captcha. Bulk data mining is not allowed.
Best search order: exact cause number, narrow party name, citation or cross-reference key, then a clerk call.
The Trial Rule 77 source defines the CCS and clerk-maintained case records.

That rule is why the official Clinton County chronology matters more than a vendor's result card.
What a Case Search Shows
A public result identifies and tracks a case, but it is not always the full file. Read the result header and the CCS together.
| Cause Number | The Indiana identifier and court-code path. |
|---|---|
| Court | Clinton Circuit, Clinton Superior, or Frankfort City Court. |
| Case Style | The public court title or caption. |
| Case Type | The filing category used for routing and search. |
| Status | Open, closed, or another displayed state. |
| CCS Entries | Sequential filings, events, orders, settings, and outcomes. |
| Documents | Links only when public remote access permits them. |
The Administrative Rule 9 source appears in the assigned image.

Remote access is just one form of access. A document missing online may still be waiting at the Clinton County clerk.
Clinton County Doxpop Cross-Check
Doxpop offers a second search path. The Clinton County Clerk embeds its hearing widget. Doxpop also lists Clinton as a partner court. Advanced fields cover region, party name and role, case number, and title text. Case-type group, status, filing range, and disposition range are covered too. Some detail or document access may require a login or subscription.
Treat Doxpop as a lead, not certification. The vendor itself says it is not the official court record. Compare the result with MyCase and the CCS. Then ask the clerk for a plain or certified record when you need one. The vendor's driver-license field is not a general docket search method. For a court date, the county court dates page walks through the notice, CCS, widget, and phone sequence.
County vs Statewide Case Search
Clinton County runs no separate full public docket database. Its clerk page offers office help and a hearing widget. MyCase supplies the statewide public Odyssey layer, and each channel answers a different need.
| Channel | Best use | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| MyCase | Free statewide case and CCS search | Public and nonsealed data only |
| Clerk hearing widget | Upcoming event lead | Vendor convenience view |
| Doxpop | Extra role and date filters | Not official; access may vary |
| Clerk or court | Official date, copy, balance, or missing record | Office process and fees apply |
| Archives | Older indexed court material | Not the live case keeper |
The Clerk of the Circuit Court holds records for both Clinton Circuit and Clinton Superior. Call 765-659-6335 or visit the counter. Plan any mailed live-record request by phone. That way the address, copy type, fee, and payment method are clear. For historic records, Clinton County Archives takes mailed requests through a separate process.
Clinton County Public Access Baseline
Indiana Code 5-14-3 supplies the general public-record framework. Court files also follow Supreme Court Access Rules. Access Rule 4 starts from a public-access baseline. A statute, rule, exclusion, or sealing order can change that. Trial Rule 77 places the CCS, case file, Record of Judgments and Orders, and indexes with the clerk. The current Access Rule 4 sets out those baseline categories in full.

The public baseline does not promise a free online image of every public document. Ask the clerk for the exact CCS entry or document you need rather than an undefined request for everything.
Restricted Cases and Access Rules
Some cases never show up in a docket search. MyCase leaves out confidential, sealed, and expunged files. It also hides protection-order cases, along with the protected party's information. Juvenile, adoption, some family, mental-health, investigative, and other protected material can be restricted too. So a search that comes back empty does not prove a case never existed. For the official list of what stays out, see Access Rule 5. It names the excluded records.

Knowing the cause number does not unlock a sealed record. The clerk still must refuse. Parties with a genuine stake can see more, though. An Indiana Courts account plus a case access code opens added document access, within the rules.
When Clinton County Search Fails
A failed Clinton County docket search usually means the query, not the case. Check the spelling, the court, the category, the status, and the filing dates. Then enter the exact cause number, unchanged. An older case may simply predate Odyssey, or show up as a converted event. Brand-new filings take time to appear. Some cases transfer out, and others are restricted from view. Treat a dead end as a reason to slow down. It is not a verdict on whether the case exists.
- Check the notice for the named court and every digit of the cause number.
- Retry MyCase with the correct Clinton County court filter.
- Use the clerk hearing widget only as an event cross-check.
- Call the Clerk of the Circuit Court or the named court.
- Visit the counter or arrange a mailed request for a public copy.
- Contact Clinton County Archives for older indexed material.
There is a lawful route into excluded records. Access Rule 9 lets a person file a verified extraordinary-access request with the court holding jurisdiction over the record. While that request is pending, the file stays confidential. The current Access Rule 9 source spells out the procedure.

No search portal grants that kind of access; a judge does, through a written court process.
